freedom for Ajiit and all comrades arrested - defend his life and condition! ICSPWI call for a large campaign

Tough nut’ Ajith may have received local help
MAOIST ARRESTS
Cops claim having the CPI(Maoist) member in custody could lead to more Naxalites being nabbed Investigating agencies are busy mining data from the mobile phones and iPad and a laptop seized from the flat in Talegaon, where Communist Party of India (Maoist) central committee member Ajith (62) and his aide were arrested on Friday. Cops suspect that Ajith received local help from Pune and officials privy to the investigation said his arrest, could lead to more. About a week ago, a joint team of the Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Tamil Nadu police forces had nabbed Kerala Maoist leader Roopesh, his wife Shyna and three other associates in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. “Ajith had held meetings with Roopesh and knows him well. Ajith’s arrest will break the back of the CPI (Maoist) in south Indian states. The search is on for those associated with him,” an officer told Mirror.
According to the state Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), which arrested Ajith and his accomplice Ismail Hamja CP, the duo were staying at Lotus Villa apartments in Sant Tukaramnagar, Talegaon Dabhade, about 30 km from Pune, using fake IDs and other documents. Police are also contemplating a case against flat owner Shripad Paranjape for not getting a tenant verification done with local police station. Senior PI Bhanupratap Barge, incharge of ATS Pune unit, told Mirror, “Investigations are on. Teams from other states have also arrived in Pune to assist with the interrogation.” Other officials said that after suffering a heart attack and being intensely pursued by the Kerala police, Ajith shifted to Talegaon. “We are trying to retrieve data from the electronics we recovered, but a lot of information, including emails, have been deleted. We also found several envelopes, which point to the use of letters for communication. Both the arrested are hard nuts to crack. Ajith is highly intellectual and speaks mostly in English. Interrogations are on, but he is a unique mixture of intellect and cunning and he draws us into a web of words, attempting to cause confusion. We are also finding it difficult to question Ismail as he understands very little Hindi. He used to translate Ajith’s instructions into Malayalam. During his stay here, Ajith also edited three editions of People’s March, their online magazine,” an official told Mirror.

Nagpur-based lawyer Surendra Gadling (37), who is fighting several cases for people arrested in the Vidarbha region for being alleged Maoists, said, “I have never heard of Ajith. As far as the other arrests are concerned, most of them have been acquitted. The government targets those who participate in pro-people movements. These people are then forced to go underground and police arrest them by branding them Naxalites or Maoists. In Ahmednagar, when a Dalit youth was murdered and there was a demand for a thorough investigation, the police termed it Naxal propaganda.” As Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public gathering in Dantewada in the heart of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) insurgency-affected Bastar Division in Chhattisgarh on May 9, 2015, the Maoists registered their symbolic opposition.
